These Canadian artists will make their debuts in Rome July 5: Borealis String Quartet, Guillaume Tardif, Jana Miller, Jorden de Souza and Kornel Wolak.
Premieres:
4 Canadian compositions will be premiered.
Colin Eatock: (1958 – ) Ashes of Soldiers (2010)
European premiere
for Soprano, Clarinet and Piano
The text is based on a poem by Walt Whitman, from Leaves of Grass. The composer has dedicated this work to Alan James Eatock, his father.
Imant Raminsh (1943 – ) String Quartet No. 1 (2004)
Rome premiere
Raminsh’s String Quartets No. 1 and No. 2 were commissioned for the Borealis String Quartet by Chamber Music Kelowna and premiered in Kelowna, British Columbia in 2005.
